Please note:
If you choose/are granted a C.H.O.I.C.E.S. school based placement that is not your neighborhood school, this does not guarantee continued enrollment for the Kindergarten year. All requests for enrollment at a school other than your neighborhood school must be done in accordance with the RSU 1 School Choice Policy.
RSU 1 has five Pre-K programs it supports with up to 16 slots in each location. The locations are Head Start, Dike Newell School, Bath YMCA, Phippsburg Elementary School, and Woolwich Central School. For each location we use a lottery to fill the 16 spots, so placement is at random. The one exception to this is that the Bath YMCA's program gives priority to those students who already have a history of attending their program full time in their age 2 and 3 rooms. Therefore, the number of slots available of the 16 at the YMCA will vary based on which families are moving up from the age 3 room to the Pre-K room. It is good to know that the open YMCA Pre-K slots are usually no higher than 5 in number and sometimes fewer than that. This year, due to the childcare facilities that have closed within this area, all of their spots have already been claimed by their current families.
