Dear Parents/Guardians,

Winter is probably the last thing on your mind on this sunny, warm day. However, I am writing to let you know that RSU 1 will be returning to traditional snow days this school year. This decision was made because students are in-person 100% of the time and not experiencing the inconsistencies in instruction that occurred last year. Remote learning days may be considered if the district exceeds the five snow days built into the school calendar. All school districts are required to be in session for 175 student days this school year.

Notifications of a snow day will be made in the morning as typical, using the messenger system, website, social media, and TV/radio outlets. RSU 1 will always do its best to make the right call. However, please know we understand that it is always the parent/guardian who makes the final decisions regarding the safety of their student (s). If there is ever a circumstance where school has not been canceled or delayed, yet you feel it is best to keep your child home because of road conditions, we respect your decision to do so.

Sincerely,
Patrick Manuel
