Dear RSU 1 Staff and Families,

I am writing to inform you that an individual associated with Morse High School tested positive for COVID-19. The individual was in school during the period of infection/transmission. All those considered close contacts have been individually notified and, if necessary, excluded from school.

Upon learning of the confirmed positive test, we implemented our response protocol. We must follow privacy laws and protect the confidentiality interests of every student and staff member, while also ensuring that we are protecting the health and well-being of all members of our school community.

We thank you for assisting us in preventing the spread of COVID-19 in our community. Wearing masks, getting vaccinated, if eligible, and signing up for pooled testing are the three most effective steps we can take to keep our schools open. It is not too late to sign up for weekly pooled testing and avoid the need to quarantine from school. Close contacts who are in pooled testing don’t have to quarantine from school or school-related events (they only need to quarantine from community events).  If you would like to join a pool, please follow the sign-up steps on this pooled testing consent letter.  Also, as a reminder, when you feel sick with ANY low or high-risk symptoms, please stay home from school or work.  As cases rise in our area, staying home when you feel sick is an important step for our whole community to take.

Questions for the school can be directed to your school nurse. For general COVID-19 questions, dial 211 (or 1-866-811-5695).

Sincerely,
