Terrific night on the basketball courts for our Shipbuilders! 🏀 At home - Coach Beth Carlton gets her first win in charge of the Shipbuilders in a decisive win over Waterville! The JV team played terrific as well in a dominant win! We also had our terrific cheer team in attendance to support our girls. On the road - Coach Stephen Stewart also picks up his first win in charge of the ‘Builders! Playing a tough Waterville team, our boys stepped up for a big performance! The JV team won and the first team dropped a very tight matchup. So proud of all of our basketball players and coaches! Great start to the season! #GoShipbuilders

Students at Woolwich Central School had the opportunity to practice their literacy skills using either their "reading glasses" or a "read-o-phone." While the glasses may not have lenses, once students put them on, they are able to focus better on their reading. The read-o-phone (a hollow piece of pipe) allows students to hear their own voice as they read the text aloud.

A few students from Ms. Candland's Comparative World Governments course had a tour of the polls on Election Day with Bath's City Clerk, Darci Wheeler. They learned the entire process of voting--including how to register on the same day, how ballots are stored and kept secure, and that some groups collect signatures on Election Day for ballot measures they hope to get on the ballot in the future. Students had great questions and saw how easy and quick it is to vote in Bath! Many thanks to Darci Wheeler for taking the time on such a busy day.

The Morse High School Science of Cooking class wrapped up their lesson on fermentation in a delicious way! The students made a yeasted pizza dough and long fermented it for 48 hours using a blend of AP and 00 flour in an attempt to make Neapolitan-style pizza. After shaping and forming the dough, they launched it into a 900-degree oven resulting in student made science-based pizza.

Dike-Newell students enjoyed a wonderful walk to the Chocolate Church and enjoyed the show "Enviroganza" with Jack Golden, (a.k.a. Dr. T with a phD in Garbology). The weather was perfect, student behavior was top notch, and we really enjoyed the show! Great job Dike-Newell School, and thank you Chocolate Church, Matthew Glassman, and Casella for sponsoring our excursion. We can't wait to go see another show!

Last Thursday, juniors and seniors from the Cosmetology Program visited Spa Tech in Westbrook. They explored the 16,000 sq. ft. facility, watched Aesthetics, Cosmetology, and Barbering students at work and had a Q & A session with the instructors. This visit gave our students a good look at what to expect in post-secondary cosmetology and got them excited about their future careers! Thank you to MELMAC for providing funding for this trip!

We are very proud to announce that our Certified Nursing Assistant students started their clinical assignments today at local healthcare facilities. The purpose of CNA clinicals is to provide students with real-world experience to apply their classroom knowledge and skills, and for students to earn the necessary hours for them to sit for their CNA exam.

The second grade Library Acting Club students at Dike-Newell School recently performed their play "Little Red Riding Hood" for pre-k and first grade students. First grade has been comparing and contrasting multiple versions of this story and greatly enjoyed seeing it brought to life. Many thanks to the actors for their hard work.
